Now preparations are being made to transfer that image from my head to the canvas: determining the size and preparation of the canvas, collecting materials (images, objects) and organizing the composition. The process of painting is a collage of photographs, objects, different times and diverse work techniques, in order to “grasp” life, the variable.
The beginning of work on a painting is always accompanied by the knowledge – the image in my head, and the lack of knowledge – the way to realize it on the canvas. When the painting is complete, the image is “burned” on the canvas, but while the image is dynamic and continues to change in my mind all the time, the painting is permanent – and this gap creates a constant feeling that “I caught something” but it is elusive and can not be grasped … my creation.
During the course of my work, I am immersed in the work of painting, devotion and total focus on a process that requires deep concentration, trust, flow and listening to emotion.
The painting is done in layers of oil paint on linen fabric, between performing one layer and the next one is a dialogue between me and the work when the dialogue ends the work is finished.
The last works sharpen the feeling that I am part of one great network of art history, where everything is possible, the extremes live together and resemble more than they are different – the emotion is no less tangible than the object, the perfect broken, the ugliness is beauty and weakness strength.
